Unpaid carers across Luton are warmly invited to take part in the Carers’ Café Hub, a welcoming space created especially for carers to pause, breathe, and reconnect.
Hosted by Bramingham Community Engagement Hub, in partnership with Bedfordshire Health Radio, Luton Point, and ESQUIRES Organic Cafe, the hub offers a relaxed and friendly environment right in the heart of the town centre.

Bedfordshire Health Radio Supporting Carers at Luton Point Bedfordshire Health Radio proudly supported and promoted the health and wellbeing of carers at the Luton Point Carers Café, with presenter Geoff alongside the Café Manager welcoming members of the community.
Carers were encouraged to take a well earned break from their responsibilities by accessing a voucher through www.mybcehub.com. Once registered, carers receive a voucher giving them 10% off coffee and any purchase at the café.
CJ and Carlos also showed their support at the event, helping to welcome carers and senior citizens who received both a voucher and a copy of the BHR magazine.
Magazines are now available at the Post Office and the café for anyone who would like to pick one up.

🌿 Carers Café Hub Launch!
A Community Moment to Remember
The launch of the Carers Café Hub, brought to life by Bedfordshire Health Radio, was more than an event. It was a pause button in the middle of busy lives. A gentle exhale. A space where carers stepped out of responsibility for a moment and into conversation, warmth and understanding.
Carers were invited to enjoy that well earned break from their caring roles. And they came.
💬 Voices from the Day
Monika, who cares for her four children with Autism, brought along her spinning wheel. As threads turned and wool gathered, she shared how important it is to intentionally create moments of respite. She described the Café as:
“The Carers Cafe is a welcoming opportunity to have respite/break from caring.”
The spinning wheel hummed softly, almost like a metaphor for carers themselves. Always turning. Always giving. But here, for once, turning for joy.
Misty, who cares for her mum, shared simply and beautifully:
“I can have coffee with my friends and stop me being isolated.”
Sometimes community is not grand or dramatic. Sometimes it is a cup of coffee and someone who understands.
Lee, a carer for her mum and recently appointed Caretaker at the Carnival Centre, spoke about balancing caring and working life. Her employer has made reasonable adjustments to allow her time when needed, and even welcomes her mother to accompany her to the Carnival Centre. A real example of how workplaces can support carers with compassion and flexibility.
🤝 Community Contributions
We were honoured to hear from East London NHS Foundation Trust People Participation Lead, Racial Johnson, who spoke about how service users contribute to improving the quality of services. Real voices shaping real change.
The Town Chaplain shared her role within the town centre, offering listening, support and spiritual encouragement to those navigating life’s challenges. A quiet presence. A steady ear. A reminder that no one has to carry everything alone.
A heartfelt thank you to Heather Walton and Bedfordshire Health Radio, who raised awareness about how to access the radio at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, ensuring more people can tune in and feel connected.
🎟 Vouchers & Support
Over 20 vouchers were given out to carers and senior citizens on the day.
The voucher scheme continues, so if you are a carer or senior citizen, please do register and claim yours.
If you do not have access to a computer, Luton Library can assist you in registering and downloading your voucher. Support is available, every step of the way.
☕ A Business with Heart
The Café Manager, Fazel, spoke about the commitment behind the Carers Café Hub. Providing a safe, welcoming space for carers to take a break is not just good hospitality. It is part of a wider Social Responsibility pledge. Giving back to the community is woven into the business ethos.
A special thank you to Levina, Manager at Luton Point, for sponsoring the banner and supporting this initiative.
This launch was not just about coffee.
It was about connection.
It was about dignity.
It was about saying to carers across Luton:
You matter too. 💚
And this is just the beginning.
