While walking through London, Valma James stopped by Tottenham Court Road, where the inspiring artwork of local animation and creative artist, Abi Tomasiewicz, is proudly on display.
Abi’s work was commissioned by a London company on behalf of the Mayor of London, in celebration of Black History Month — honouring Black individuals who have made a significant contribution to the empowerment of Black communities and civil rights.
This powerful display stands as a vibrant reminder of how art continues to connect culture, history, and identity across generations.
An Amazing afternoon in London and it is Free!!

Luton Health Visitor Elizabeth, with the support of Dr. Woolaway, Director of Public Health, and Dr. Wood, Consultant Haematologist at Luton and Dunstable Hospital, established the Luton & Dunstable Sickle Cell and Thalassemia service to provide essential care and support. The Luton Sickle Cell Group was later founded by Hyacinth McPherson and Brian Hussain-King to further these efforts.
As Black History Month 2024 comes to a close, we extend a heartfelt Thank You for their dedicated work in developing services for the treatment and care of those affected by sickle cell and thalassemia. Their commitment continues to make a lasting impact on our community.
